Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Why should it not be!.

It is a well documented and filmed event so it is not as though it was made up!.

America learned a lot from Pearl Harbour in regard to defence and preparation!.

It was the impetus that finally bought the USA in to the war and helped bring an end to WW2!.I will go one further , not only should Pearl harbour be taught but also the atrocities that the Japanese committed against Chinese and Manchurian civilians, Allied Prisoners of war and Singaporean citizens!.

The fact that they had POW camps used for human experiments that would have made Mengele blush should never be forgotten!.That the Army bayoneted live Chinese babies for bayonet training and used adults for target practice to help train their troops!.

If it felt it should not be taught for fear of upsetting the Japanese that is just bad luck!.I have absolutely no issue with reminding the Japs of their deeds which incidently they DO NOT teach in their own schools!.

The Japanese launched a cowardly and deceitful attack on American soil , the committed human rights and civil abuses , they committed mass murders, and all this was turned around and bought down and destroyed their own country!.That is FACT!

There is no political correctness in History!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It reminds us to be aware of our enemies!. It is a lesson we forgot by Sept!. 11, 2001, else four teams of terrorists would have never made it past airport security!.

It also reminds us to not underestimate our enemies!. Americans in the late 1930s felt that a real navy such as Britain's could launch a long-range attack against the Pearl Harbor base, but that the brown-skinned, slant-eyed Japanese would never be able to pull of that feat!. Our racism resulted in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor!.

Pearl Harbor was also the US entry to World War II, which THE pivitol event of the 20th century!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's History!. The aftermath!.!.!. well the US bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with atomic bombs!.

And that is not to be considered a short-term aftermath!. The war between the US and Japan has had a profound impact towards both countries' governing politics, as well as the culture that we live in today!.

Understanding the past will help us understand the present!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
