Question: Whats the best & cheapest way to store alot of old newspapers,postcards & photos!?

I have alot of old newspapers that are currently in a box,flat on top of each other!.also I have old photos & postcards in a normal album!.Any help is appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best and cheap are contradictory, mutually exclusive solutions!. The destructive element is air, contact with which causes a chemical reaction in the paper, causing it to yellow, become brittle, and otherwise disintegrate!.

The US Library of Congress does some of the most advanced research on materials preservation!. The minimum step is get and use acid-free containers to enclose the materials!. Unless high-tech preservation techniques are used, keeping this material in its original physical state is near impossible!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Cut out the articles from the newspapers you want to keep, and put those in a photo album! It doesn't need to be anything expensive, any folder will do!.

Get one of those plastic bags that you can suck out all the air to store them!. I think lakeland plastics do them in all sizes!. We had some which takes pillow sized items!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
