Question: Is the world really more messed up today than it was 30-40-50 years ago!?
Every one talks about our messed up world and how our society is going to the dogs!. I agree, things are really messed up!.
But I was watching an old TV episode of the TV Show Leave it to Beaver and Ward Clever was complaining about the modern era and how crazy everything was!. All in the peaceful 1950s!
On the other hand looking at History while the 1950s did seem like a peaceful time, I am sure there were many social problems then!. But were there as many social and personal issues for the average person than today!.

I am not sure that anything has really changed that much over the years and I certainly do not look back with longing for times gone by today and tomorrow are far more important!.
Nostalgia has a clever habit of screening out the bad part of the human condition I suppose!.
What I feel has made the fundamental difference in the world is communications there have always been bad things in the world but 40 years ago you only really knew what was happening in a small portion of it!.
Today an incident in Australia is on Utube and the BBC in seconds and for all to see!.
There were all sorts of social problems then and now but they never made the news what about Teddy boys Mods and Rockers in the 50 60 fights every bank holiday riots against the war in Vietnam what has changed nothing just the names and the size of the TV we see it on!.
I for one do not mourn the passing of time life should be for the living not for constantly longing for the past we can never go back it is gone record it and move on tomorrow never comes lets get today over withWww@QuestionHome@Com
Yes, the world was messed up in the 1950's and yes, it's messed up now!. And, yes, it's getting worse! (I know about the 1950's and 1960's because I was there!)
When I went to school (in the 1960's) the biggest trouble most of us in my school got into was chewing gum in class!. Now, hardly a week goes by without some big news article about kids bringing weapons and/or drugs to school!

It was harder to become a billionaire then it is now!. Yet it was easier to feed your family then!.
In the fifties, there were only 3 billion people on the planet, now 6!.7 billion!. The pollution is twice as bad, and the resources are getting less and less!. Look at the gas prices!. You will here that it it is worse in Europe, but that is mainly because their gas is taxes at a much higher rate!.

Yes it is sad but true but Geo W has managed to push America to a new low - - - during the 1950 s at least half the World loved and Respected America in spite of Nuclear Threats and the music of Lawrence Welk!.

It is more messed up now, there can be no doubt about that, but also we have more acess to information - the media shows us things that they would never have shown us 50 years ago!. Nothing is now concealed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Maybe older people talk about how much more messed up now is because they lived through all the other tumultuous times and now they are drained!. I look at the 60's and 70's and find it hard to believe that now is more messed up than those two era's!Www@QuestionHome@Com
