Hello, is Macodonia a greek or Slavic Name!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ancient Greek Macedonia has nothing to do with the population living in FYROM!. The people are mainly Slavs and Albanians!. After Yugoslavia was divided into many smaller areas these people started to claim that ancient Macedonians are their direct ancestors and started to have historical claims and territory claims over the Greek history and area!. They need to have a separated identity with the Bulgarians, Serbians and Albanians so they started their strategy!.!.!.to be Macedonians! Unfortunately their claims are based on fake historical facts and propaganda!. This territory was called Vardarska for many many years but they were always "in danger" by the Bulgarians!. They have nothing to do with Alexander the Great, with the ancient Greek Macedonian Civilization!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The name Macedonia is clearly Greek, unless the ancestors of Alexander the Great were considered by most Greek city-states ( Athens, Sparta, Corinth, Miletus, etc !.!.;) as semi-barbarian, due to their ethnic mix with Thracians ( indo-european people in contact with Greeks during one thousand years )!. But the culture language of the Macedonian aristocracy was Attic Greek, this is doubtless!.!.!.Nowadays, the country called Macedonia or FYROM ( Former Yougoslav Republic of Macedonia ) has a majority of Slav-speaking people, with a strong minority of Albanians ( not Slavs, circa 15 % of the population )!.!.The Slav language called "Macedonian" is in reality, a Bulgarian dialect!.!.This is due to the fact that Slav immigrants settled in this region after the crumbling of the Roman empire ( VIth-VIIth centuries ) because most inhabitants had fled the Barbarians who had devastated these provinces (Goths, Huns, Avars, etc!.!.!.)!.!.!.Macedonia was afterwards integrated in the Bulgarian kingdom, and later in the Byzantine empire which always had claimed this province but did not succeed in rooting the Greek culture again, except in a few cities!.!.!.During the first Balkanic war ( 1912 ) Macedonia was the theater of ethnic cleansing, since the "Turks" ( circa 30 % of the population, most of whom Muslim Slavs ) were chased way from their homes!.!.!.Macedonia then has become a nickname in the European press for "ethnically mixed"!.!.!.!.A mixed salad with mayonnaise even bears this name !Www@QuestionHome@Com
