Without Tchaikovsky much of Classical Music would be unbearable - - -- - Tchaikovsky brought a lightness a gaity to classical music, a whimsy that was and continues tio be wonderful!. And an odd factor - - - the pace of Tchaikovsky's music lent itself well to Ballet and so for those that are fond of watching women in tutus swirling around manly men in tights a world with Tchaikovsky would be barren indeed!. A final note of importance was that Tchaikovsky was Russian and as such set a standard that forever marked Russia as a nation of art & culture even amidst anarchist bombs and starving peasents!.
Two of Tchaikovsky's works are so much a part of life that one can hardly imagine Christmas with 'The Nutcracker Suite,' or most anything deemed graceful without the haunting melody of 'Swan Lake!.'
