Prohibition made alcohol illegal and since a majority of Americans wanted alcohol they were forced to break the law!. Various criminal elements stepped up their activities to cater to the American thirst!. These elements were as diverse as the sweet old lady running the store on the corner selling bottles of booze despite the law, to known criminals supplying that sweet old lady with the booze, and to known criminals orchestrating shipments of booze across America's borders with Canada and Mexico and across Ocean waters!.
Among the worse consequences were Alcohol was the use of 'poisonous' acohol which left many people blind or dead from the effects!. And by making alcohol illegal various crime lords battled amongst themselves to supply Americans with alcohol thus leading to violence; beatings, assaults and murder!.

I think one of the worse things was that this not only help the govt to control alcohol, and it is not handled well, but upstanding citizens became criminals!. This all lead to in part, to receiving poisonous or no good alcohol!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
