Booth considered Lincoln a tyrant, and held him responcible for the Confederacy losing the war!. When an earlier plan to kidnap Lincoln fell through, Booth became part of a conspiracy to kill Lincoln and some other government officials, apparantly thinking this would somehow motivate the Confederacy to take arms once more!. Booth was the only assassin to succeed in his mission, but he failed both in resurrecting the Cofederacy, being thought of as a Hero, and in beheading the US government!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The original plan was to kidnap Lincoln and other heads of the U!.S!. government and use them to end the war with a Confederate victory!. The war ended before Booth could carry out his plans so he killed Lincoln instead!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
