1!. At Justinian's bidding a large number of talented lawyers assembled the mass of legal precedents, judicial opinions and imperial edicts that made up the legacy of Roman law!. They arranged it into a vast systematic collection known as the Corpus Juris Civilis ("the body of civil law")!.
