Question: How many of you have read "war is a racket" by General Smedley Butler!?
This should be required reading for all pro-war americans! In less than 10 pages he lays waste to the myth of war, what its really all about - PROFIT! And lest you think he was a pinko, writing his manifesto in 1935 in the peak of the depression!. He was a Marine Corps General, the only Marine ever to be awarded two Medals of Honor! He sees the coming of WW2 and a latent fascism deep within americas psyche!. for all pro war brain washed idiots - read em and weep!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You might want to read up on Dan Daley, a great Marine who won two Medals of Honor!.
There is an undeniable link between Big Business and the military, and during the Banana Wars the Marines were often derided as "State Department troops," the general reason for those interventions being the protection of business interests!. Before WW II, the concept of a proper war as a great crusade was not typical as it has been since!.
General Butler, of course, made valid points, but you should consider that his combat experience was in Mexico, the above-mentioned banana wars, and China, where the military-industrial links were most obvious and direct!. He also had a rather remarkable shift through the years in his political thinking, bringing many who knew him to think he was mentally unstable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Butlers book was OK, man was a lot better soldier than he was a politician or writer, most true soldiers are and they should stick to what they know!.!.!.Butler wasnt the only man to win the MOH twice, 2 men both ,marines have done so, Butler and Dan Daley!.!.!.!.Butler and Mitchell were the two most outspoken generals on what was to come with WWII and how unprepared the US was militarily and mentally to deal with the coming modern war!. They both were sort of crack pots ,even tho they had valid points!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
