The "zombies" --that's wartime slang --were the roughly 60,000 Canadians conscripted into the Canadian army during the Second World War who refused to volunteer for overseas duty!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure that they were ever referred to using that term, but those poor suffering people in the death camps sure looked like zombies!.
Other than that, I wouldn't know what else fits the description!.
My second guess would be a nickname for a military outfit!? Or Hitler's blindly following hordes!?
Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was going to suggest 'the name of a cocktail drink' as it wasn't a name I'd heard before in relation to WW2!.

But, the Canadian draftees answer could be correct, or a fake (if got from Wikipedia!)!.

World Ward II was between the zombies and the vampires!. The forces of darkness almost destroyed the Earth, until the U!.S!. nuked 'em and saved the world!.
