The Athenians wanted to control more and more land around the Spartans, while Sparta was content keeping to itself!. Eventually Athens brought on war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mainly because Athens was using their league to punk other city states!. After defeating the Persians at the battle of Marathon they created a defensive league!. This league kept tring to increase its power!. Remember Athens was about trade and money!. Sparta had no money they were a state about war and that is all!. They ended up fighting Athens, but without a Navy they were not able to defeat them without the help of the Persian Navy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ancient Greeks were war-mad, they hardly ever stopped fighting each other!. That is why they invented the Olympic Games, to give people an alternative to fighting now and again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
