I would say his experiences influenced his ideas, the main one being when he was kicked off the train because of his colour!. That seemed to be the inciting force for his cause, at least it was in the movie!. But also keep in mind that his upbringing gave him his religion, and without that he wouldn't have achieved such change in such a peaceful way!. So I would actually have to say both, as lame an answer as that might be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He grew up in India, which has a caste system!. I think he was in the top caste called the Bramin!. Anyways I think that the caste system never made sense to him, because he did not see why one person could be a rich Bramin while another can be an Untouchable who has nothing!. He read tons about all the religions of the world, which could have led him to his passifist-fighting philosophy!. He became a lawyer, and I think outside of India he experienced alot of racism for being a non-white lawyer!. Then before he started his campegn in India to free it from British rule, he sort of did the same thing in South Africa!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
