The most important thing is that they had to live the first world war on their territory, a terrible awful war that killed many very young men and they surrendered very easily because they wanted to avoid another war no matter what!. They also made many strategical mystakes such as thinking that the "ligne maginot" was enough to keep everyone out of their territory!. It just didn't work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
