ME 262!.!.!.jet power made prop power obsolete nearly overnight

Submarine!.!.!.unfortunately the U Boats (which came about during World War 1) changed naval warfare forever!.

But hands down the most revolutionary weapon developed during WW2 HAS to be the Atom Bomb!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The atomic bomb!. It was developed during the war, ended the war, and changed every aspect of the industrialized world!.

Submarine revolutionary in WWII!? By the US's involvement in WWII they had a submarine fleet for almost 42 years, a full 3 years before the Wright Brothers flew at Kitty Hawk, NC!. Improvement in weapons submarines carry and their ability to snorkel, but otherwise nothing revolutionary!.

B17's pre-date WWII and the Me262 didn't have an effect on the war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Atomic Bomb was at the end of the war, the war was won anyways, it just saved lives!. The submarine was the most revolutionary vehicle, and the most revolutionary infantry weapon would probably be any one of the machine guns which were light enough to carry!. They changed ground warfare forever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Good answers all, but I'm going to take a diiferent tack!.
IMHO, aside from the Atomic Bomb, it would have to be RADAR, voice radio, or ENIGMA!.
Radar allowed early warning of approaching aircraft, giving more time (and accuracy) in mounting defences!.
Voice Radio permitted rapid reliable long distance communications; expiditing the transmission of orders, scouting reports and artillery spotting!.
Enigma was a code cyphering device used by the Nazis!. The device was an early computer!. It worked by using a series of mechancial cams to encrypt and decrypt message traffic!. Each time it was used, it created a unique one-time only code sequence that by its nature was unbreakable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

ME-262 because it was a big jump ahead of anything the allies had jet fighter wise and us and the Russians used it to make there first and some second generation fighters!.

but submarines too!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The atomic bomb hands down!. What other weapon could you fire just one of and level a city!?

Most other weapons were either something that already existed or an evolved form of that item!. Incendiary bombs!? They'd been around since at least the seventeenth century as sailors would heat up solid shot and then fire it out of cannons in order to set fire to enemy ships!.

The B-17, B-24, Lancaster, etc!.!? Bombers exsisted during WWI and the bombers of WWII were just an evolved form!.

The Tiger tank!? Again, tanks came into exsistance during WWI and the Tiger was just an evovled version of an already exsisting weapon!.

Mustard gas!? What do you think WWI troops were issued gas masks against!? Mustard Gas was one of the deadliest weapons of WWI!.

Any rifle!? It doesn't matter what the rifle is, you can look at the history of firearms and see the evolution of rifles leading up to WWII!.

Submarines!? Yes, plenty was revolutioned leading up to and during WWII!. But remember the submarine played a major role during WWI!. And that subs were first used in warfare during the American Revolution!. Though the sub itself predates the American Revolution!. Once again you're looking at the evolution of the sub as a weapon of war, particulary from it's first succesful use in warfare (HL Hunley sinking the USS Housatonic during the Civil War) to WWII!.

Jet and rocket powered aircraft!? Ever since WWI folks had been looking to build faster fighters to use in war!. Jet and rocket planes were the natural next step in the development of the fighter!.

The V2!? The V1's a little more revolutionary as the first cruise missle!. But both missiles can trace their lineage back to rockets the Chinese used in combat many centuries before!.

The atomic bomb is a bit different!. It's not actually a natural evolution of the bomb!. Most bombs by WWII were either meant to explode on contact (conventional bombs) or to burst open after a certain span of time so as to spread it's destructive capacity over a larger area (incendiary bombs being an prime example)!. But the atomic bomb was designed to set off a destructive chain reaction at a certain time!. The resulting explosion did only a little of the overall destruction!. The rest was done by the bomb's pressure wave, which could level most of a city!. And the atomic bomb also had characteristics that could be attributed to both conventional and incendiary bombs!. It's explosion could destroy property while at the same time it could start an inferno just like an incendiary!. But then you had that destructive pressure wave!. And even worse, the radiation!. No other bomb had such lingering effects after it's initial destructive power ran it's course!.

Even today the nuclear bomb is the only weapon with this power!. Nuclear warheads on a ballistic missile!? Just another form of the nuclear bomb!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mustard Gas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
