I agree w/ Rob (obviously) w/ the caveat that The Cold War was not a matter of ideology, but an extended period of international strategy and tactics!. Please note Cuba for example!. The overthrow of Battista by Castro may have occured under the umbrella of socialism (not communism) yet Cuba was (and is still while controlled by the chicken farmer) a "communist " country!.

What other countries during the Cold War Period make a similat ideological shift!?

Why did the U!.S!. not intervene to "democratize" Cuba!?

Because the real tension was whether or not the soviets would place nuclear weapons in Cuba (the Cuban missle crisis)!.

Likewise the U!.S!. was smart enough to let sleeping giants (China) lay!.

Just trying to say that The Cold War was not ideologicalWww@QuestionHome@Com
