I think he means civil wars throughout history, not just the US

But thats not always true!. India and Pakistan are basically west-east!. Germany was split west-east (albiet not a civil war)

Its probably due to the fact wealth is generally farther north, due to the historical lack of farming ability!. This forced them into industry, which in the long term gets more money!.Otherwise, its usually on Ethnic or Religious groundsWww@QuestionHome@Com

However, in the Americas there were wars East and West such as the one during President Buchanan's administration between the federal government and Utah Mormons!.

In addition, if you are referring to the American War of the 1860s (between the Union federal government military and the States of the Confederacy) you make the common error of referring to it as a 'civil war' and it was not a civil war!. This war was one of direct aggression and invasion of one country (the Union) into the territory of another country (the Confederacy)!.

Further, another common error is to state that it was a war concerning slavery, it was not such a war!. The war (in short) was about the Sovereign position of States and their existing power to secede from the Union formed by the Constitution of the United States!. Dont listen to the post above me that said the American Civil War wasn't a civil war!. The American Civil War was fought to save the Union, because the south seceded so it is a civil war!.

Good question, many civil wars are north vs!. south!. Vietnam, Korea, and America for example!.

Other countries to think about are China and Russia!. Both countries fought a civil war against communism and lost to it!.
But when they fought their civil wars, it wasnt north vs!. south!. It was everywhere in the country!. Communism was spreaded everywhere throughout in their countries like a disease!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think if you study the whole range of the subject you will find that there is no East-West bias!. We in the U!.S!. tend to focus on our own history!. The term used is very instructive when it comes to expressing the views of the individual!. The official name is the record printed by the U!.S States Government and available in most research libraries is The Official Record of the War of Rebellion!. Others are The Civil War (now the most favored title), The War Between the States (favored in the former areas of the Confederacy) and recent times The War of Northern Aggression!. I'm not sure that you are correct, but I like the question!.

I think perhaps it is due to different climates in northern and southern territories which engenders differing economic activities!. For example Industry in the northern US states, agriculture in the south!.

The North was free and had a lot of industry; the South was slave and had a lot of crops; They covered the east part of the nation; the west was not greatly populated!. That is a very basic look!.
