I don't know if the Romans had an actual flag but a standard of bronze, carried in front of the advancing army by the Standard Bearer!. It was a great shame if the army lost its standard to the enemy!. It was usually in the form of an eagle atop the letters SPQR, which was the abbreviation of the Latin: Senatus Populusque Romanus, meaning "the Senate and the Roman People!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
