Question: How is science intertwined with the art of the Renaissance!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Have to disagree slightly with "Kittywin" in that artists really would not be considered "gentlemen" in the elitist, nobility minded society of the Renaissance in Western Europe -
but it is quite correct that educated men learned art and science together!. Da Vinci was a master of construction techniques as well as painting!. He was employed by the son of the Borgia pope Alexander VI, Cesare Borgia!. Leonardo's job was building military fortifications!. Da Vinci also worked on weapons systems!. The study of anatomy was useful in artistic work - painting or sculpture!.

This broad educational ideal is still favored today by medical schools selecting applicants!. There is still an art of medicine along with the science!. In simplest terms, to be a good doctor, you should understand people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the great artists of the time such as Michaelangelo studied art under a teacher, and also used cadavers to learn precisely how the human body is put together!. In that day an artist needed to be well educated in languages, philosophy, and science to be a respected gentleman!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
