Hmm, let's see !. !. !. so the choice is between having a society where people have differences of opinion on the right course for the country, or on what is right and wrong, etc!., or having a world war in which tens of millions of people will die, probably hundreds of millions, what with modern weapons, with many times that number maimed or otherwise wounded and/or made homeless and/or losing their livelihoods!. Wow, tough choice!.

You obviously have very little grasp of history, or you would know that even during World War II -- you know, the "good" war -- there was not a unified society, whatever that means, neither in the Axis countries nor in the Allied ones!.
