The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists and individuals who believed that government should grant western lands to settlers free of charge (the Free Soil movement)!. Besides opposition to slavery, the new party put forward a progressive vision of modernizing the United States—emphasizing higher education, banking, railroads, industry and cities, while promising free homesteads to farmers!. No one person founded the Republican Party and the founding fathers had nothing to do with it!. The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by former members of the Free Soil Party, the Whig Party and the Democratic Party who were united in their opposition to slavery and their desire to preserve the union!. A party combining both Republicans and Democrats called the Democratic-Republican party was founded by Thomas Jefferson!.

a republican i guess!.!.!.i think the romans and the greeks have the larger influence on our government today so probably one of them!. Their empires long ago (B!.C!. even maybe) developed their systom of government much like the one of ares today!. Don't hold me to it, but i belive it was or kind of started with the romans!. They didn't directly call it the Republican Party, but it was generally the same idea!. It was to give more equal-er rights to everyone and to not follow under one man!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
