Here's a good link into what happened!. The things that happened in the 1920's start about 3/4 down the page, but it's all pretty interesting to read!.

Well there is a fact that many people tend to overlook when discussing the KKK!. The KKK at it's peak had it's greatest presence in Indiana - not the South!. The KKK in South was prevalent up until the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's, that's not to say today in certain parts of the South - it's had it's fans!.

In the 1920's, the Klan had a lot of power in the Midwest - specifically in Indiana!. The head of the KKK actually hand picked much of the State Assembly and the Governor!. However, the Klan Leader ended up in a sex scandal with a young woman who later died!. Apparently, he raped this woman or beat her real bad - I believe it was a on train but I'm going to memory here!. Well, the story broke and since the crime was so heinous, this Klan leader tried to use his political clout to get him off!. However, the politicians didn't help him out - so the Klan leader took down the politicians - basically stated that it was Klan support that got him elected!. Say what you want about Americans but once your associated with raciest killers - especially in a generally religious place like the Midwest - well the popularity of Klan fell dramatically!.

Once the Klan lost what little momentum it had in the North - that was pretty much it!. Eventually the civil rights movement came about and the Klan was exposed for what it was!. The lynchings, murders and torture of blacks and immigrants became news worthy events!. Remember, most of the attacks by the Klan - were never reported - it was well known but you weren't going to read it in the paper (kind of creating a "it never happen" and "racism doesn't exist" nonsense)!.

Exposure to the world is one of the worst things that can happen to secret organization!. The Klan was exposed and lost it's political power!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe that the Jewish Anti-Defamation League began to publish lists of KKK members, which caused membership to decline!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was secret and it did illegal things to people who didn't deserve it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

uh because people strated to realize that they were just about killing and had no just reason to their actionsWww@QuestionHome@Com

The women got the right to vote and Prohibition came along!. So the KKK just gave upWww@QuestionHome@Com
