Question: Who helped the north in the civil war!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
the only real help the north recieved, or needed was from Russia!.
The English were inclined to side with the south due to their need for cotten!. That flimsy blockade would have stood no chance against the british navy!.
Lincoln was waiting for the right moment to issue the emancipation proclaimation, which was designed to keep the british from blowing the blockade out of the water and provideing money and equipment to the south!.
But before that political moment arrived the british were going to step in but the russian navy arrived in a show of force and stopped the british long enough for the Lincoln to make his move with the proclaimation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The British intended to help the South, not the North!. To prevent this, Lincoln and his advisers determined to issue the Emancipation Proclamation, in 1863, two years after the start of the war!. This was hoped to call more attention to the slavery issue and impact a vote in England on whether to enter or not enter as aid to the South!. When the slavery issue was more strongly associated with the war as a result of the Emancipation Proclamation, Britain determined to stay out in a very close vote!.

Lincoln did support revolution, just not in our country!. He sent aid, resources and weapons to Benito Juarez in his revolt!. The common thread to all these issues was keeping Europeans out of the western hemisphere wherever possible, and thereby preserving US autonomy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The north did not need help!. It had the men, factories and navy!. At the start of the war there was some shortage of rifles and until production could gear up they did purchase some from Europe!. Mostly British Lee-Enfields!. Great Britain never stopped trading with the south!. It was the same with France!. Blockade runners were usually purpose built ships in British shipyards and were considered expendable!. Only three or four successful voyages would recover the costs of the owners many times over!. Profits were enormous!. One problem with Blockade runners for the south was they did not bring in a large enough percentage of weapons and military goods!. Too many luxuries for well heeled civilians!. It was a business and importers brought what they could make the most profits on!. The French had a lesser problem they controlled most of Mexico at the time and just brought goods into Mexico and then traded over the Rio Grande!. The Brownsville-Matarmos area was a center of trade!. Cotton filled wagons would just go south!. Many with young men avoiding Confederate conscription late in the war!. The problem for the south was how to get the goods out of Texas after the Mississippi river was cut!. Texas literally had cannon parks stockpiled at end of the war!. They did not have the population to use them and no way to get them to the Army of Northern Virgina or Army of Tennessee!.!.!.!.!.The north did use immigrants as a great source of manpower!. Hence the name of the "Irish-Birgade", the south did to lesser extent!. But there was one Tennessee Regt!. drawn from around the town of Erin, as the name suggests it was settled by Irish immigrants!. Their regtimental battle flag was made by the towns ladies!. The motto was "sons of Erin go where glory awaits you"!.!.!.!.!. As organized help the north had very little because it did not need it!. In fact one of the main northern goals up to Gettysburg was to avoid eithier France or Great Britain entering the war in support of the south!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Russia really had no effect on the British!. Their navy did visit but it did not frighten the British at all!. They dominated the sea then!. What led to the British not coming in was another source of cotton from India and their deciding the south could not win after Gettysburg!. The empacation proclamation had nothing to do with the Russians!. Linclon decided to issue it after the north won the Battle of Anetiam a year before Gettysburg!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No one!. They had superior men, fire power, and resources!. They really didn't need help!. Well, the only help they needed was at the General position!. The best generals of that day went and fought with the South thus resulting in cat and mouse and as we can see from Tom and Jerry, the mouse will usually win when it uses its head!. The North thought that it could flex it's muscles and win, but the South made the North actually try and win by using something else other than brute strength!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
