Kilroy was an American ship inspector during WW2, after inspecting rivetting work that had been carried out he wrote "Kilroy was here" to authenticate his inspection!.

Years later of course, during repairs etc!. people were amused to see his signature in all sorts of unlikely place on the ship, therefore starting a cartoon industry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

mr kilroy was a inspector of ships in usa during ww2 the ships were called liberty ships welded!.his job was to test work carried out a driller would bore holes kilroy would come along to pass them for the tapper to carry out his tack etc!. he would draw kilroy looking or a wall as most times ship workers were on an other job on the ship, this was soon taken up by others not only in ship building aircraft construction!.i had a logo when installing boilers two dogs one behind the other u no what they were doing!. popaWww@QuestionHome@Com

The Kilroy grafiti is from WWII!. I believe it was a ship inspector's mark originally, but caught on with the troops!.
My father was army infantry during the war, and said that Hitler actually thought Kilroy was some super spy, but I don't know much more about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
