It was built not at the edge of the desert, like the other temples, but further to the east in what is now fertile land!. The walls surrounding the complex were 8!.5 meter thick and inclosed an area of 700 by 550 meters!. Inside, in addition to the main temple, there were gardens and pools, and a separate shrine to the Memphite god of the dead, sokar!. At the entrance to the temple ground two seated statues of the king, 20 meters tall and made of sandstone still remain!. As most might imagine that with all the intensive work of the embalming process that ancient Egyptian physicians would have a good knowledge of human anatomy, but this was not the case!.
