There was two reasons, the expense, and the fact that they turned out to be very vulnerable to grave robbers!. Since it was believed that the grave goods were necessary for the afterlife it would have been more important to keep the grave secure than to make huge monuments!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the pyramids were not built by slaves!. would you trust a slave to the most important building of your era, i don't think so!. A slave may escape and tell your enemies about your secrets in that building!.

the pyramids were too expensive, too big and to hard to guard against robbers,

the valley of the kings was much more practical for the purpose of protecting the bodies and therefore the souls of long dead kings!.

The tradition of pyramid building ceased after the slaves were released from Egypt!. If they had to actually PAY skilled laborers to build the pyramids, they could never afford it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
