Question: Jefferson Davis The 4 Yrs Confederate President Was Captured 143 Yrs Ago! How The South & GA Look Upon Him Now
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Truth be told, he wasn't all that popular among his fellow southerners even at the time of the Civil War!. He was arrogant and dictatorial, and he antagonized many of the other southern politicians of the time, especially the various southern state governors!.

In my opinion, Davis is not viewed in the South today with the same respect and admiration as are Lee, Jackson, and Stuart, Confederate generals who commanded in the field!. He was never well-liked here in Georgia, and the fact that he was captured here is not something that you hear a lot about, and the very fact that he was fleeing, rather than surrendering with honor as did Lee, may be part of the reason he is not admired!. And, truth be told again, he was in many respects a traitor to the nation that had paid him great honor during his military and political career before the Civil War began!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I see him as somewhat of a loser!. His leadership capabilities were limited to those around him!. Lee lead the south more than anyone!. We talk about draft resistors; he had more problems than the north!. His personality just wasn't right for rallying the common folks to the cause!. (Tne percent of the population owned 90% of the slaves!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I dont like the question!. Just kidding!. I do not think that the southerners of today give him much thought!. There are more prominent and honorable people to think about, although he is alright in my book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

he was a good man during an impossible time!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
