The astrolabe, the quadrant, the sextant, and the magnetic compass were all in use during the crusades!. I'm not sure how to answer the second part of the question; the quadrant had been invented by Arabs, the magnetic compass (independently) by both the Chinese and Europeans, and the astrolabe had been in use for centuries!.

Maybe you are looking for who made them!? I would guess they would be made by a blacksmith or maybe a goldsmith!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
