i'm not sure what you mean by 'have to' ; it was a policy decision to be against communism and to work to eradicate it around the globe!. as far as at home, yes, we decided for some period of time that if you believed in communism here in the u!.s!., the supposed land of free speech and free religion and all that, that you were an enemy of the state and could be treated as such!. did we 'have to' - if you mean that literally than no!. if you mean did we, yes we tried to, during the McCarthy Era, and really still we are supposedly anti-Communist, unless it means making money of course (ie!. we don't mind China being communist if we can make lots of money off them)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Apparently the US thought so!. It's an excellent question which should opinions pull from the 2 schools of political thought; that is, the doves and the hawks!. My opinion is that if you look at Vietnam and Korea, you clearly see that US intervention in the name of stopping communisn worldwide was a bad idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Communisim was alive and well during the Great Depression!. Many laborers had an interest in their promisies!.
