Question: What events of WWI and WWII contributed to the creation of Israel!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
WW1 resulted in the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the Holy Lands were incorporated into the British administered Mandate of Palestine!. Although it vascillated, there was general British support for the ideology of Zionism, under which there was considerable Jewish emigration to Palestine, and which accelerated with the increasing anti-semitism of fascist states during the inter-war period!.

After the near of annihilation of European jews during the Holocaust, much of the surviving Jewish population emigrated en masse to Palestine!. Under the aegis of the UN, Palestine was to be partitioned into Jewish and Arab states but Britain pre-emptively departed and the Jews unilaterally declared their independence along the UN boundaries!. The Jews then successfully prosecuted their 'War of Independence' in defending the new state against Arabs who rejected the partition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
