Josef Stalin worked his way to become General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union during the 1920's!. He allowed others to be elected president of the Soviet Union, serve as Prime Minister, or serve as chairman of the communist party!. Only during WWII did he take a government post as prime minister or generalissimo of the armed forces!.

After the Bolshevik coup of 1917, Lenin, as prime minister of the new soviet government, named Stalin as kommissar of minorities (a cabinet post)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Bolshevik party IS the communist party!. They started as the Bolshevik party then started calling themselves the Communist party so Stalin was both!.

he was the leader of the communist party during the russian revolution!. but he only became the leader after he forced leon trotsky out of the picture even though the prev!. leader of the communist part, vladmir lenon, said he did not want stalin to be the leader!. Bolshevik means majority and comes from the time when the party split into two parts, 1905 I believe!.
By the time he became leader, 1924, it was only one party!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
