Question: Why was the Loire Valley chosen by the French Kings for the location of their Chateaux!?

When power was initially shifted to that area from Paris they were like Versailles, royal palaces but later when Francois Ier brought power back to Paris in the mid 16th century, they became solely 'holiday homes' because they were far enough to relax in yet not far enough that it would be hard to get back to Paris should a problem arise!.
If you speak good french i'd recomend going on the official website of the loire valley for a full history (the sites in French or!.!.!.umm!.!.!. Russian >_< )or you could always try wikipedia!
