Question: What are some reasons to be with the Loyalists in the American Revolution!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
They tended to be the more Conservative and wealthy!. Like today, they supported the status quo!. And they had privilege's ordinary people did not!. If you lived in a mansion and were a local power, the local military commander was not going to stick twenty troops in half your home and expect you to support them!. He was going to knock on the door, not break it down!. And you were more concerned about a relatively low tax bill compared to your income and status than having some say in the tax, (represent ion)!. Sound a little familiar!? As well a lot of ordinary people felt it their duty to support the king!. There were quiet a few loyalist British units in the regular British Army and they served well!. People like the Scotch highlanders had been beaten by the king in recent memory and did not want to rebel again!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

People feared change, wanted something they knew over something they were not sure of!. Some wanted to remain loyal to the King they had always be loyal too!. Some were afraid of "the tyranny of the mob" or popular government!. Some thought the Americans could not win!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
