In the early 1900's, Russia was ruled by a Czar system!. The needs of the peasants were being ignored!. People were angry!. This sparked the Russian Revolution in 1905!. It was unsuccessful in achieving communism!. However a provisional government was established, the duma!. In 1917, a successful revolution took place!. Lenin seized power until his death of 1924!. His leadership was characterized by creating a New Economic Policy and War Communism during the Russian Civil War of 1918-1921 (I think!.!.!.!?)!. In 1924, Stalin seized power!. During the 1930's the Great Terror emerged sparked by Kirov's death in 1933!. The NKVD gained excessive power and killed millions that were a threat to Soviet society!. After Stalin died, Khrushchev took power and denounced Stalin's crimes in the 20th congress meeting!. In 1991, eventually the Soviet Union collapsed due to Gorbachev"s policies of perestroika!.!.!.that triggered mass opposition!.!.along with the invasion in Afghanistan during Brezhnev, the economy finally crumbled!.
