1) Economic stress is the perfect breeding ground for extremest groups!. People were desperate for change!. This was during the depression so people were suffering!.
2) Hitler gained power because the German people wanted a strong leader!. He appealed to most people humiliated by the effects of the Treaty of Versailles!.
3) During the Cold War, communism became a big issue!. It effected modern politics by creating the left right system we use today!. It gave us examples to draw from to realize the consequences of absolute power and gave us the means by preserving democracy!.

well every one was in a depression, so obviously the idea of a government that would fix your life was appealing, even if the reality was quite different!.
Hitler and Mussolini actually rose to power quite (almost) legally)!. Hitler was sort of elected Chancellor (eventually changing the others in his government) and Mussolini was elected ruler as well!. Like the fascists and Communists in general, these two promised peace and prosperity to two broken empires!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
