Question: What was Britain called before the Romans named it Britannica!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Prior to being called Brittania it was known as Albionium (from which we get the romantic name Albion) but those who lived on the island - that many from Gaul (modern France) believed contained spirits of the dead - would have referred to it as possibly either Breten Veur (Cornish Gaelic) or Breatainn Mhor (Scots Gaelic)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
