The ancient Greeks invented democracy!. However, the form of democracy they practiced was quite different from ours!. Those who had the power to vote were more closely involved in making laws and decisions than the majority of people are in our own society!.

However, a far smaller section of the population could vote than in a modern democracy!. 50% of the population of Athens were slaves for instance, and they could not vote!. Women could not vote, and neither could natives of other Greek city-states who lived in Athens!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
