Well, considering the Civil War didn't begin until 1861, it's hard to imagine how it was such an important economic event before 1861!.

Clearly, the most important event in that period, economically, politically, in all aspects of historical consideration, was the American Revolution and independence from Great Britain!. The US trade, taxation and economic policies were no longer controlled form London and managed for the benefit of Great Britain!. Instead, American commerce became an economic rival of Great Britain and the wealth generated by that commerce stayed on this side of the Atlantic rather than flowing mainly to London!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
