John Wilkes Booth - the South was angry that they lost the American Civil War; they PLANNED on killing the Secretary of State, VP AND President, but only Lincoln was killed (the Sec of State was stabbed, and the assasination plan on Johnson failed) the purpose of this was to create chaos in the govt - ppl were REALLY sad that lincoln died (except not so much in the south)Www@QuestionHome@Com
