Yes, he was captured and taken to Ireland as a slave!. Slavery existed throughout the ancient world and into the early medieval period (when Patrick lived), though it died out in Western Europe within the next few hundred years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There was slavery throughout the entire world! Even in the Bible there is guidance as to how a slave is to be treated!
