Question: WW ll gliders!?

I was just watching a wwll movie were the British were using gliders instead of regular aircraft!. Is it true before landing men were told to lift their feet off the floor!? And if so why!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

These gliders were purely used for invading forces to carry men and light artillery and were towed towards the target by transport planes!.
The men were told to lift their feet to avoid injury in case they landed on uneven ground and something penetrated the floorWww@QuestionHome@Com

Because the gliders had no landing gear and slid in on their bellies!. The flyers lifted their feet to avoid injury from something that might puncture through the bottom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
