Question: How did mary tudor get power if edward vi b4 her said only male heirs!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Edward VI’s will called for male heirs of the Protestant Lady Jane Grey to succeed him to keep Catholic Mary Tudor off the throne, but as his health deteriorated it was changed to include Lady Jane Grey who indeed did succeed him for all of nine days!. Whether Edward knew of the change is debated by historians!. Popular support for the Act of Succession let Mary claim the throne and behead Lady Jane!.

Edward Vi's will stipulated that the crown should go to Lady Jane Grey and her male heirs!. He would have prefered to leave his crown to a male heir, but there was none available!. However, as he was not yet legally of age, his will was not considered legal, and most people supported the will of Henry VIII, which stipulated that Mary was first in line to succeed after Edward!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

While Sherringford221b is right it's important to note that Mary acted quickly and decisively to claim the throne, mobilising her supporters and declaring herself the rightful queen as soon as she could confirm that Edward was indeed dead!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
