Europeans had been fighting limited wars for over a hundred years!. Wars were fought over a disagreement and when someone surrendered they lost some territory, paid some reparations, etc!. They also fought many colonial wars were the fighting was all done outside of Europe!.

WWI changed that!. In part due to the duration and the massive loss of life, the British and French punished Germany with massive debts, military restrictions and other impositions after the war!. WWII was for Germany a war of revenge for this humiliation as well as regaining lost territory!.

When Germany conquered France in WWII they divided the country and took a very large part for Germany!. They crippled the remaining Vichy France!. England knew that if they surrendered to Germany they would likewise be dismantled and crippled for German revenge!.

So essentially there was no point in surrendering!. Germany was out to destroy England and any peace would have cost England more than the war did!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was a fight for their survival as a culture and a people!. Even the occupied countries continued to fight or resist as much as they were able!. Most cultures throughout history have fought for their survival and Britain was simply able to continue the fight without occupation until they had the help that should have been there from the beginning!. Good luck and God Bless!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you proposing they should have just given up because things weren't going their way just then!?
WOW!
Obviously they weren't already on the losing end!. WE WON didn't we!. The Good Guys!. Okay, they had help - a lot of it from us - but the Brits held on until we could REALLY help!. That was all she wrote!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you search for "The Black book" compiled by Schellenberg it shows what would have happened to Great Britain if She had surrendered!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because they thought that Germany was wrong and they were opposed to them in principle!. there are different ways to lose - they hadn't lost yet and they weren't ready to either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because it was worth it!.!.!.!.we knew we were in the right so we werent just going to become German lying down- we were going to fight!. What pathetic country gives up anyway!? Good thing the good old Americans came to save us!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because the idea of being invaded and occupied by the German army was not attractive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
