Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Lincoln: He wasn't afraid to take a definite side in an extremely controversial debate!. There was no vacillating and worrying about opinion poles!. It led to the Civil War, and ultimately his death, but he stuck to his guns anyway!. That took major guts!. I favor Thomas Jefferson, but there have many great presidents, Washington, Lincoln, and both Roosevelts!. In my own opinion I don't think we have had a great President sense Harry Truman!. He guided the country through a long and brutal war!. And he was responsible for getting rid of slavery!. (2) FDR!. He gave people hope and jobs during the Depression!.
