Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The enemy of my enemy is my friend!. Soviet Union, although was considered an evil empire before the second world war, was not consider as evil as Hitler's Germany!. The second reason is also simple!. If Hitler was to succeed with his plans of invading Russia, who knows what would have happened after that!? What country would be the next victim of this "German machine"!? It was the smart thing to do, geopolitically, for the US / UK / Soviet Union to join together in an alliance to defeat the common enemy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com because everyone feared the fascists more!. we pulled out of all the lands we went into, in the war, russia did not, since they had a history of imperialism going back many years!. Sometimes, it is better to work with a common enemy against something more terrible!. the russians were afraid that hitler would invade and subjugate russia!. afterall, the germans laid siege to st petersburg for over 900 days, where over 500,000 russians in st petersburg perished during the siege!. a lot of the old russians in st petersburg actually loved americans for many years!. they remembered our large tins of food and chocolate bars!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Germany invaded Russia so Russia became an ally, its as simple as that!.
