To have lived in Japan's Meiji Restoration and Taisho Democracy!.

The periods from 1868 to 1926 when Japan moved from a feudal, isolated Island culture, to an international, innovative, rapidly developing democracy, a World Power, and prior to the early militaristic driven Showa era [1926-1989, WWII insanity of '41-45]!.

In the Taisho era in 1905, the small island of Japan, smaller than California, defeated Russia and its navy!. The Russian fleet was virtually annihilated, losing eight battleships, numerous smaller vessels, and more than 5,000 men at the Battle of Tsushima, while the Japanese lost three torpedo boats and 116 men!.

The Battle of Tsushima was the only sea battle in history in which steel battleships fought a decisive fleet action!. And, historically, the first defeat of a Western nation by an Asian nation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
