Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Invention of the gunpowder!.

Rise of the Central Government ruled Nation State
-which gunpowder did play a part in by raising the costs of both offense and defense!.

Rise of the Merchant Class

The Black Death & resultant shifts in the economic balance!.

Of the four, I'd tend to pick gunpowder, since the introduction of guns, gun powder, and cannon spelled the end of both the castle (well cheap ones) and the highly-trained warrior class which lay at the heart of the feudal system!. As evidence of this, I'd point to the second example of Japan for use of gunpowder ending a feudal system!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
