Carter began the practice of secretly sending aid to Afghan rebels after the Soviet coup!. He also instituted the boycott of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, undermined Soviet power in Central America by withdrawing support for its right wing dictators, continued the opening of China which increased its rift with the Soviet Union, and helped bring about the bankruptcy of the U!.S!.S!.R!. by selling them animal feed!.
