Base 10 is simply a reflection of our anatomy!. The numerals are Arabic, although I think zero is of Indian origin!. Possibly other numerals are Indian as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Although I had always been told that we use base ten for our numbering system because we have ten fingers, which made it easier to count, I recently saw a program on the History Channel that stated a new theory : start counting your pinkie, then the space between the pinkie and ring finger, then the ring finger then the space between the ring finger and the middle finger, then the space between the middle finger and the index finger, the space between the index finger and the thumb, the thumb and finally the space after the thumb - it adds up to ten!.
The origin of the number zero ( meaning nothing ) is generally considered to have originated in ancient China or in the Middle East!. Without the number zero complex mathmatical formulas were impossible!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
