Britain exploited countries without extending education or prosperity to native populations!. The ideals that Britain held dear in the home country were not extended to the colonies!.
When forced to give up colonies, such as Rhodesia, very little in the way of a positive legacy was established so that newly independent countries could be stable and successful!. Dictators and tribabl warfare were generally the legacies of the British empire!. Resources that used to be exploited, even stolen, by the Brits, now became stolen by autocrats!. Prosperity still didn't reach the average person!.
Guilt on the part of Brits today!. Reading TimesOnLine, it's obvious that the Brits still have a big concern about Zimbabwe, even tho they have no formal ties to the country!.
