Trade is why empires develope!. An economist would tell you that trade benefits everyone, not just those actually involved with trade!. Exotic goods like silk, spices, and paper become available, and everyday goods become cheaper!. Wars are fought establishing, and then maintaining trade routes by which goods move in BOTH directions!.
